RES’ ERS Nursery Awarded Shoreline Protection Emergency Wetland Restoration Project in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana

HOUSTON--()--Resource Environmental Solutions’ wholly-owned ERS Nursery at Pointe Aux Chenes, Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, has been awarded a contract by the State of Louisiana Coastal Restoration and Restoration Authority (CPRA) to supply over 13,000 native marsh grasses as part of the long-term effort to restore Louisiana’s fragile coastal wetlands.

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources awarded this project through a competitive bid process. Through this project award, RES’ ERS Nursery will grow, propagate, store, deliver and plant the Spartina alterniflora ‘Vermilion’ species during October of 2013 along the restored shoreline acres of Bay Jimmy in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

Comprehensive ecological restoration includes protection of wetlands complexes along the coastline and inland as well. Since the company’s founding in 2007, RES has planted over 5 million trees on 22,000 acres of restored native habitat as part of ecological restoration efforts throughout Louisiana.

RES’ CEO Elliott Bouillion said, “Shoreline restoration activities are key components needed to rescue Louisiana coastlines from impending erosion. The ERS Nursery is supplying the vital native coastal marsh grass species needed to ensure a self-sustaining environment. RES is thrilled to be the leader in the ongoing ecological restoration of Louisiana.”

Resource Environmental Solutions, LLC develops and supplies ecological offsets and restoration solutions for unavoidable project-related impacts to wetlands, streams and habitats.
