Background: Representatives Grimm, McGovern, King, and Blumenauer will be joined by members of the Commuter Benefits Work for Us Coalition to support the Commuter Parity Act of 2013. This legislation will establish permanent parity between the parking and transit/vanpool portions of the transportation fringe benefit. The bill has been introduced to be revenue neutral.

The transit benefit has provided an incentive for millions of commuters to get out of their car and use public transportation. The mode shift generated by the transit benefit has helped improve our transportation system, improve air quality, and save energy while simultaneously saving employees and small businesses millions of dollars. The Members of Congress will speak to the importance and value of the transit benefit and members of the Commuter Benefits Work for Us Coalition will be available for questions and comments.

About the Commuter Benefits Work For Us Coalition: The Commuter Benefits Work For Us Coalition is composed of employers, public transportation agencies, national associations, benefits providers, vanpool providers, and others who share a common interest in using the transit benefit as a tool to provide commuters with options.
