To the Employees of the Milwaukee County Transit System:
AS CEO of MV Transportation, I regularly communicate with our team members to answer questions and address topics of interest for the majority of our employees. As MV is the proposed future service provider I wanted to follow up on the letter I sent you last week.
I understand many of you are concerned about the time you have spent working in the front lines, taking care of the passengers who use the transit system in Milwaukee County every day. I am hearing questions such as: Will my pay still be the same? Will my benefits continue? What about my seniority - will it be honored if MV is approved by the County Supervisors?
The answer to all of these important questions is: YES.
MV has successfully completed more than 150 transit contract transitions over the past six years. The formula to successfully transitioning this many transportation systems under MV’s leadership is based on two key components: 1) taking care of the current front-line employees; and 2) making sure that the transition activities do not affect the passengers who use the service. If we are selected as the successful bidder by the County Supervisors, these two items will be our main focus.
I want you to know that in addition to honoring your current seniority, pay and benefits, MV will also offer new incentives and training that you may not have had access to in the past. MV has done this in other cities across the nation, and we will bring the same types of program improvements here to Milwaukee County.
It is important for you to know that MV does not view this contract as a short term project. Our company consistently seeks to become part of the communities it serves, and hopefully become your long term neighbors and part of the fabric of this community.
I hope that this is the first step of many towards a long and lasting partnership with Milwaukee County.
R. Carter Pate
