DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/nkxzj8/domestic_heating) has announced the addition of the "Domestic Heating Market Report 2013" report to their offering.
This Market Report analyses the UK market for domestic heating equipment. The market includes both central-heating systems and space-heating products. The range of equipment covered in this report includes boilers; stand-alone space heaters; radiators; pumps and controls; and spares. This report excludes heating equipment used solely for heating water.
UK domestic heating manufacturers suffered from the effects of difficult business trading conditions during 2009 and 2010, brought on by the global economic downturn and the recession that officially began in the UK in the final quarter of 2008. The market has been falling year-on-year since 2008, in line with the overall economy and the housing market. The authors estimate that the market contracted by 4.7% between 2008 and 2012.
Boilers are core to heating systems for both central heating and hot water and represent the most expensive part of the system. Sales of boilers contributed 50% of the total market by value in 2012. The sector for boiler spares is the second-largest sector in the UK domestic heating market and accounted for 15.8% of market value over the same period, while space-heating products such as storage heaters, fuel-effect fires, portable gas and electric heaters, and solid-fuel stoves and heaters represented 13.1% of the overall market in 2012. The sectors for radiators, comprising mainly pressed steel panels, but also higher-end fashion radiators and towel warmers; heating controls; and pumps, accounted for the remaining 10.3%, 8% and 2.8% of the market, respectively, in 2012.
The past few decades have seen a number of long-established British heating manufacturers being acquired by prominent foreign firms. The UK domestic heating market is now dominated by several large multinational corporations, which specialise in boilers, radiators and control sectors. These companies tend to operate in a number of markets, in both the domestic and the commercial space- and water-heating arenas, supplying a wide range of products, including burners, ventilation and air conditioning. Baxi Heating UK Ltd and Stelrad Ltd are the two longest-established leading UK-based firms operating in the UK market.
The authors predict that in the coming years, the availability of grants such as the Renewable Heat Incentives (RHI) and the Green Deal to businesses and homeowners will help to encourage further take-up of renewable heating systems. Between 2013 and 2017, the UK domestic heating market is forecast to grow moderately by 4.6%.
