GAINESVILLE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Upon announcing an expanded partnership agreement today, SumTotal® Systems, LLC, the largest independent provider of integrated HR solutions, and Skillsoft, one of the largest providers of technology-delivered learning content, unveiled the industry’s first intelligent talent solution that allows customers to deliver relevant, in-context learning and talent content to employees – when and where they need it – so they can get better at their jobs in real time.
Now, Skillsoft content assets, including traditional courseware as well as video and blended learning modalities, can be made available within SumTotal’s recently announced elixHRTM platform. This partnership will drive significant time and cost savings for customers by reducing administrative overhead and eliminating guesswork around finding and linking the right assets to key competency and learning programs.
“One of the biggest challenges across organizations of all sizes is providing employees with just-in-time learning actions that truly improve their ability to get better at their jobs while they are doing them,” said Hardeep Gulati, SumTotal’s Executive Vice President of Worldwide Products. “By combining the unrivaled contextual and pervasive capabilities delivered by SumTotal’s elixHR platform with Skillsoft’s competency-aligned courseware and content assets, we are providing customers with an intelligent talent solution that knows what learning actions to deliver based on the skill and competency they require to enable employees to be more productive and effective.”
Integrating Skillsoft’s extensive and comprehensive learning assets directly with SumTotal’s learning management solutions (LMS) reduces costs, complexity and risk for customers, specifically around real-time content integration and administration. By dynamically automating the administration of the Skillsoft catalog and delivering real-time content updates, SumTotal helps customers avoid the headaches associated with updating static or aging content, which is critical for ensuring regulatory compliance and keeping certifications current.
This tight integration also provides full tracking and contextual text searching across licensed Skillsoft content, providing employees with immediate access to the learning and training actions they need in order to get better at their jobs while they are doing them.
“Learning is an integral part of talent development, but today’s employees are pressed for time more than ever before. Many can’t afford to spend days out of the office getting ramped up on key skills and programs,” said Colm Darcy, Co-Chief Product Officer at Skillsoft. “By providing the most current, relevant content that can be accessed at a time and place that is most convenient for the employee, we are not only helping individuals advance in their careers, but organizations as a whole be more successful. We are pleased to partner with SumTotal to deliver targeted learning content to employees throughout the organization.”
Michael Rochelle, Chief Strategy Officer at Brandon Hall Group, a leading research and industry analyst firm with strong expertise in learning, development and talent management, called the partnership “a real breakthrough” in assisting organizations to efficiently and effectively target the right assets for any learning program.
"The need to assimilate learning assets into competency-based employee programs to drive individual performance, team performance, leadership development and succession planning is extremely important and has been a significant challenge for even the most advanced HR practice-based organizations,” said Rochelle. “Organizations have been craving a more dynamic and technology-enabled solution that requires very little in terms of administration and upkeep. This partnership brings together a simple yet powerful approach through the deepest level of integration, automatic updates, and the auto-assignment features seen yet in the marketplace."
