SHELTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--3Gtms, provider of transportation management systems (TMS), today announced that Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC, an international freight forwarder, has implemented 3Gtms for its domestic freight management needs.
The centerpiece of the 3Gtms solution enables Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC to accurately rate and execute domestic shipments. Rapidly implemented in two months, about 2,000 people touch the 3Gtms system--including 200 international agents, Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC customers and domestic staff members who access the software for individual functions such as least cost carrier selection, bill of ladings, auditing, and paying freight bills.
“For Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC, our off-the-shelf products provided a 'TMS Light' directly meeting their LTL rating requirements, said Mitch Weseley, CEO of 3Gtms. “These requirements included the setup of contracts, accessorials, fuel, services standards and rate bases for more than 20 carriers to determine the best carrier and calculate actual costs. It is a great example of our unique offering that in the past would have only been possible by a lengthy full-feature TMS installation or by Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC developing custom code on top of a bureau rating engine.”
Previously, agents in foreign countries—who typically have no U.S. shipping experience—would have to email requests to U.S. offices for domestic leg transportation quotes. They would wait for an emailed quote, a lag that could sometimes take days. Now, these agents in other countries can query the 3Gtms system based upon zip code pairs, classes and densities of freight, dimensions, and other factors, and receive the best option instantly. That quote number is then referenced throughout the shipping process to track the status of shipments in transit.
“Our staff seamlessly uses 3Gtms from within our own portal,” said Ryan Murphy, vice president, Supply Chain Solutions for Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC. “Integrated into our ERP CargoWise system, we enjoy tremendous efficiencies by operating in one environment, eliminating manual data entries and their errors. Plus, we don’t have to accrue costs as invoices flow through to our ERP.”
Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC uses 3Gtms to plan and execute domestic legs of international shipments and also freight under management as a 3PL with more than 20 complex LTL carrier contracts to date. Today, Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC manages approximately 2,000 shipments per month through 3Gtms, covering about $4 million in freight spend. “We’re known for our prowess as a freight forwarder in air and ocean delivery,” Murphy said. “Now, we also want to be known for our ability to do a great job in managing LTL, distribution, and container drays.”
3Gtms Helps Achieve Business Objectives
With the implementation of 3Gtms, Weiss-Röhlig USA LLC has launched its own third party logistics (3PL) business and has already secured new freight under management clients. An external 3PL and legacy TMS were eliminated, reducing costs and improving service.
The 3Gtms solution provides pricing and execution for customers and analysis for prospects and sales using a wide range of factors including route guides, freight classes, accessorials, and contracts. 3Gtms is offered on-premise or cloud; eliminates the need to price manually using individual carrier’s web sites; and provides the user with the actual carrier, service schedule, real rates and 3PL markups as required.
“We chose 3Gtms because of the domain experience and quality of their people, the investment they are making in the software, and the technology advantages over other systems,” Murphy said. “This was not our first TMS, and it was important to us to not have to rely on an expensive full platform. The team at 3Gtms immediately caught our attention because of their collective pedigrees and deep domain expertise, and it has been obvious to us throughout our short time together that they are committed to investing in their products. They’re actively taking customer feedback to shape the product line.”
3Gtms develops transportation management software products used by shippers and third-party logistics companies to buy transportation services; plan and optimize transportation activities; execute the transportation plan; and be integral to an organization’s supply chain management framework. Customer satisfaction is an overarching core value for 3Gtms, with the company’s solutions being easy to use, quick to implement and cost-effective. 3Gtms is based in Shelton, Conn., and has offices in Raleigh, N.C. and Wayne, Penn. www.3Gtms.com
