RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Snagajob, America’s largest hourly employment marketplace for job seekers and employers, announced today the opening of its second annual contest to find the best undiscovered musical talent. The Hourly Gig invites hourly employees and job seekers to submit videos of original songs that highlight their skills for a chance to perform as an opening act at the Montgomery Gentry concert at Innsbrook After Hours at the Snagajob Pavilion in Richmond, Va., on Sept. 19, 2013.
“Last year’s huge response confirmed that many hourly employees and job seekers have a passion for music and are eager for a forum to share their talents,” said Jason Hamilton, vice president of marketing for Snagajob. “Hourly jobs offer flexible schedules that allow people to pursue other passions and we’re excited to give another member of the hourly community a chance to perform for thousands.”
Participants can upload videos featuring original songs to YouTube and submit links to those videos at www.snagajob.com/hourlygig. Submissions will be accepted Aug. 12-23, 2013.
Once the submission period has closed, a panel of judges will narrow the submissions to five finalists, and public voting on the finalists will be held Sept. 4 – 11, 2013. Popular vote will determine the winner who will receive an expenses-paid trip to Richmond, Va., to perform at the Sept. 19, 2013, Innsbrook After Hours concert, held at the Snagajob Pavilion. The concert’s headliner, Montgomery Gentry, is a country-rock duo that’s topped the charts with over 20 singles and been inducted into the historic Grand Ole Opry.
The contest is open to U.S. residents, ages 14 and older who are currently working in or searching for an hourly job. Both group and solo acts are eligible.
In 2012, more than 30,000 people cast their votes in The Hourly Gig contest. Ben Gallaher, a part-time landscaper and student at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., was selected to open for Brantley Gilbert and has since completed his first multi-state tour.
