BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HighRoads, the industry leader in health care compliance and benefits management, today announced the addition of former UnitedHealth Group (UHG) executive, Edward J. Novinski, to its board of directors. Novinski, a health insurance industry visionary and organizational strategist, will play a leadership role on the board as the company continues to extend its suite of compliance and benefits plan management solutions to support the changing dynamics of the payer market.
“Ed brings a unique combination of payer industry expertise and business management vision to the board,” said Michael Byers, CEO, HighRoads. “His insight into the operational and organizational structures of health insurance companies is extremely valuable as we deliver the only SaaS platform to address benefits plan management for health insurance payers who need to achieve new levels of efficiency and profitability, while offering the health plans consumers want most in today’s changing health care environment.”
Novinski served as UnitedHealth Group (UHG) senior vice president of UnitedHealth Networks until his retirement in July of 2011 where he was responsible for all of UHG’s Commercial Medicare and Medicaid contractual relationships nationwide with 450,000 physicians and ancillary providers and 4,800 hospitals.
He was directly accountable for medical costs of just under $100 billion annually and had a reporting structure of 2,300 employees. Novinski participated in UHG’s robust merger and acquisition efforts and provided strategic and operational recommendations to the company’s internal and external constituents including its board of directors, executive management team, benefits consultants, CMS, state Medicaid agencies, the AHA, Physician Specialty Societies, regulators and investors.
“The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has brought to light a litany of inefficiencies within the payer business causing many to evaluate business processes in order to comply with the changing regulatory environment. HighRoads is uniquely qualified to deliver the efficiency and insight health insurance payers critically need as they work to comply with government regulations and build the expertise to better engage with the consumer,” said Novinski. “I am thrilled to be part of this pivotal transition and look forward to working with the HighRoads board as we chart the company’s course for rapid business expansion and industry-needed innovation.”
