HARRINGTON PARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--United Water, which provides water and wastewater services nationwide, is proud to announce that it has received the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation’s 2013 Perfect Practice Award for community support. The award recognizes United Water for its ongoing support of character-building programs offered to thousands of at-risk youths through Boys and Girls Clubs located within United Water’s service areas.
“The Perfect Practice Award is our way of recognizing individuals or a company who exemplify quality leadership, commitment to the community, and having an impact on the lives of kids who need it the most. United Water has been a tremendous supporter and is also one of the Foundation’s first national partners,” said Steve Salem, President of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.
The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation helps build character and teaches critical life lessons to disadvantaged youths living in America's most distressed communities through baseball and softball-themed programs. Ripken family members established the foundation in 2001 in memory of former Baltimore Orioles manager and coach Cal Ripken, Sr., who died in 1999.
“We are honored by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, which embodies the true spirit of community service and selflessness,” said Bertrand Camus, Chief Executive Officer of United Water. “Like the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, United Water employees share a culture of caring that extends to disadvantaged youths in the communities we serve.”
United Water’s relationship with the foundation began in 2009. Since that time, United Water employees have teamed up with Boys & Girls Club staff members in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan to provide outreach to disadvantaged youths.
