Gradify Launches to Support Education

NEW YORK--()--Remember back when your Grandma would give savings bonds with the intent of having the gift grow with a child? At Gradify, that principle is alive and well today in the form of a college gift registry. Launched this month, Gradify is an online tool that welcomes friends and family to gift towards a child’s education during life’s celebrations. The parents then have the freedom to move the gift to a 529 Plan, savings or other investments.

With the collective school loan debt of our Nation reaching $1.1 trillion, there is a need to better prepare the next generation to pay for college. A free Gradify account can be setup quickly and easily by the parent or guardian for a child and used during a life celebration to politely ask for the meaningful gift of education. In addition, parents and children can ask for up to three items for a Wishlist for gifts that satisfy their more immediate needs. Celebrations can include baby showers, birthdays, religious events, holidays and/or graduations. When guests go to a created Gradify page, they see the child’s Wishlist and can decide what percentage of their gift will go toward college savings versus the gifts on the Wishlist. Each event also allows guests to write personalized messages for the child that will be available to look back on for years to come.

There is no cost to open or maintain an account on Gradify. In terms of donations, Gradify accepts major credit cards and PayPal.

For founders Jamie & Jaime Wheeler, it has always been their philosophy that life is about three simple, yet powerful, words: Patience, Persistence and Dreams. While starting Gradify has required all three, for them, helping kids grow up to be what they want in life has been a vast part of their dream. They deem the best way to ensure that happens is through education, while minimizing the debt that often accompanies such pursuits. Gradify is the polite way to ask friends and family for more meaningful gifts that contribute toward the future success of your child.

Prior to founding Gradify, Jamie worked in the pharmaceutical industry as an executive at Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. for 10 years.
