National Industry and Regulatory Experts Present Basis for Stray Gas Investigations and Water Management Associated with Unconventional Oil & Natural Gas Development

GRAPEVINE, Texas--()--The Ground Water Research & Education Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy will host the Stray Gas Incidence & Response Forum and the Unconventional Oil & Gas Water Management Forum July 9-11, 2013 in Grapevine, Texas. One registration covers both events.

The GWPC announced this week the addition of scheduled presentations on groundwater protection and proactive measures to ensure public health and safety at the forum, a technical conference providing the scientific basis for stray gas investigations, including fundamentals on the physical and chemical properties and the transportation of stray gases. Other discussion topics scheduled for the event include baseline data collection and interpretations, geochemical data evaluation, source diagnostics, threat assessment, case studies and rapid response protocols.

The Unconventional Oil & Gas Water Management Forum will focus on the challenges of managing and protecting water resources in areas where development of unconventional oil and gas resources is rapidly expanding. The event will spotlight the life cycle of water in exploration and production, including the status of current regulations and the potential risks and challenges associated with safe-guarding and managing water resources, well bore integrity, water quality monitoring, and waste handling and disposal.
