OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mutual of Omaha is welcoming the U.S. Senior Open Championship to Omaha with a 12-foot-tall likeness of Mutual-sponsored golfer Fred Funk on the grounds of its headquarters complex.
The three-dimensional statue illustrates Funk’s win in the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. He is depicted on a putting green with a leader board in the background.
Designed and built by VEE Corp. of Minneapolis, the statue of Funk was designed using sophisticated 3-D modeling. Requiring a total of 900 hours to build, its metal frame is covered with foam and a thick coat of polyurethane.
“We are proud of our affiliation with Fred Funk and thrilled to celebrate our hometown hosting the U.S. Senior Open,” said Mutual Senior Vice President John Hildenbiddle. “Whether it’s the Olympic Swim Trials or our own Centennial we have had fun using our campus to celebrate these events and we’re happy to continue that tradition for the U.S. Senior Open.”
A premiere event on the PGA Champions Tour, the U.S. Senior Open will be played July 11-14 at Omaha Country Club. Funk will attempt to repeat his 2009 victory in this year’s championship. The tableau will be on display at Mutual’s Omaha headquarters through the tournament.
