Stroll donates $10,000 to Tacony Academy Charter School towards student trip to China

PHILADELPHIA--()--Stroll, one of the nation’s largest providers of language acquisition and learning programs, has committed to help send 35 Tacony Academy Charter School students to China as the culmination of their Mandarin language education program.

Stroll, based in Center City Philadelphia, donated $10,000 to the Tacony Academy Charter School located in Northeast Philadelphia. The contribution was made Tuesday, April 23rd in a ceremony at Stroll’s offices, attended by Tacony Academy students and faculty.

The trip will take place in the spring of next year, as part of a program to help young adults augment their classroom studies by visiting another country and experiencing a different culture firsthand. For many of the Tacony students this will be the first time they’ve been outside the area, let alone the country.

“We’re absolutely thrilled and honored that Stroll, one of the nation’s fastest growing companies, would support our program – not only financially, but by providing our students with the educational materials to enhance their learning and Mandarin studies,” said Stacey Cruise, chief executive officer of American Paradigm Schools and one of the founders of Tacony Academy Charter School.

“For these students, the China trip represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Stroll’s commitment will open new horizons for our students and broaden their awareness of the world around them. It’s beyond generous; it’s life changing,” said Cruise. “Stroll has taken a major step in helping great kids to realize their dreams.”

Dan Roitman, founder and CEO of Stroll, said, “When we visited the school, we were simply awestruck by the work of Tacony Academy and the dedication the students have shown in learning Mandarin and preparing themselves for a changing world. We walked away convinced that we had to be involved with Tacony and their students’ dream of visiting China. Their commitment to learning a new language and culture, their drive, and their hard work are undeniable, and we’re proud to be an underwriter of their trip.”
