The RAVEN leverages a size optimized all-IP based architecture, delivering the most compact, adaptable, and cost-effective rapid response tactical platform. The highly portable mobile platform is small enough to qualify as carry-on luggage on most airlines.
Each RAVEN system provides voice, text, MMS, and megabit internet services for local users as a standalone system or as part of a larger communications network. When networked together, users have secured access to other RAVEN locations “Targeted applications requiring secured communications and additional protection from cyber threats need more than just a handset app. With the RAVEN, network users can leverage their own security enclave from handset, to RF, to network providing a more secure alternative to commercial wireless service,” said Jay Salkini, President and CEO of Tecore.
The recent focus on establishing a Bring Your Own Device “BYOD” environment within the government and military, has shined a light on the risks of cyber-attacks as well as the importance of information assurance. With the RAVEN, BYOD is simplified and secured by allowing users to “Bring Your Own Network” BYON as well. With control of the wireless network and device, secured communications can extend out to the first tactical mile, avoiding the risk of traversing unsecured networks. Enabling multiple levels of encrypted communications, the RAVEN supports integrated security enclaves that can be controlled locally or from the cloud.
The RAVEN offers multiple backhaul connectivity options to securely connect between several locations. The integrated 3G/4G WWAN allows systems to interlink connectivity and coverage at distances up to 10km apart. Optionally the units can be integrated with an external microwave or VSAT for the establishment of remote IP connectivity.
Tecore’s RAVEN supports numerous key capabilities that are targeted for rapidly deployed systems. These features provide reduced overhead in IP transmissions as well as optimized processing for satellite connections. Features such as local peer-to-peer IP switching, as well as optimized codec processing provide a significant overall reduction of IP traffic. Optionally the RAVEN supports locally controlled push to talk (PTT) capabilities. Critical in many emergency and rapid response situations PTT is a key communications component, requisite for first responders.
The RAVEN also leverages its integrated SON (Self Organizing Network) capabilities to select the most appropriate channel for operation based on the surrounding RF environment. This Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) capability operates as an integrated feature of the platform supporting rapid deployments without local RF expertise. As the system operates, the SON capabilities of the platform continuously monitor the surrounding environment, if the channel selected is jammed or interfered with, the system automatically selects and moves to a different channel.
