New Toro Precision Soil Sensor Continues to Win Awards

Innovative irrigation product honored with numerous awards acknowledging capabilities

RIVERSIDE, Calif.--()--When Toro® unveiled the new Precision™ Soil Sensor, the irrigation industry took notice. That recognition continues with many journalists and industry professionals around the world praising this innovative technology for its capabilities and water-saving benefits.

The Precision™ Soil Sensor recently received the Grand Prix award at the Garden Show Prague in the Czech Republic. Additionally, the Irrigation Association named it as the show’s New Product Contest Winner for the Turf/Landscape category in November 2012.

Other awards in 2012 include being honored with a Popular Mechanics’ Editor’s Choice Award. Handy Magazine also designated the Precision™ Soil Sensor with its annual Innovations Award, acknowledging breakthrough technology for home and lawn care products, and Home Improvement Executive awarded the product first place in Underground Irrigation Innovation.

The Precision™ Soil Sensor allows homeowners to know how much moisture is in the soil beneath their lawn. If adequate moisture levels are present, the soil sensor prevents the sprinkler system from turning on; conversely, if there’s a moisture deficiency, the sensor will allow the system to deliver the needed amount of water to the lawn. This automated control prevents wasteful over-watering and damaging under-watering, and saves homeowners up to 35% on their annual exterior water usage.

In addition to the awards, the Precision™ Soil Sensor has been mentioned in numerous publications and websites such as Men’s Home Journal, Reader’s Digest, Business Journal, USA Today.com, PCWorld.com, NYTimes.com, and CNBC.com.
