SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Locu, maker of the popular menu dashboard for local merchants, today announces a partnership with Yelp, the company that connects consumers with great local businesses. Yelp’s menus and listings data will now be enhanced with Locu’s up-to-date information about small businesses, and Locu will provide restaurants the ability to easily distribute and update their menus to Yelp, which had over 100 million unique visitors as of January 2013 (according to Google Analytics).
Locu brings restaurant menus to Yelp in near real-time, and will bring price lists and business information for independent merchants across additional categories including shopping, home and local services, and beauty and fitness in the near future.
“Integrating Locu’s up-to-date menus and price lists on Yelp business profile pages will help ensure consumers have access to even more information about great local businesses,” says Yelp Vice President of Business Development Mike Ghaffary. “With Locu’s menus on Yelp, consumers can not only find a great restaurant on Yelp, they can actually plan their meal before they arrive.”
“We want to help our customers get discovered by as many potential consumers as possible,” says Locu CEO Rene Reinsberg. “Our partnership with Yelp will help serve the needs of our restaurant customers as well as our growing numbers of customers in other local business verticals.”
Locu’s customers can design, update and manage their menus using Locu’s simple and easy-to-use interface. With Locu’s distribution capabilities, customers can then share their menus across their websites, mobile sites, and many other partner sites, getting their menus in front of millions of consumers across the Web.
The ability to distribute menus on Yelp, along with additional features, services and support, are available to Locu Premium customers. More than 15,000 local merchants have signed up for Locu since it launched late last year. These include restaurants as well as hair/nail salons, spas, home cleaning services, and fitness studios across the United States.
Locu's vision is to better connect local merchants with consumers. Locu reduces the cost and headache of menu and price list updates and helps local merchants build business by staying connected to current and prospective customers. Locu's API gives developers access to the world's largest real-time, structured repository of local business offerings data. The data comes directly from merchants using Locu’s dashboard at Locu.com and Locu's patent-pending technology platform that digitizes and structures real-world content. Locu was started by MIT graduates and is backed by General Catalyst Capital Partners, Lowercase, Lightbank, SV Angel and angel investors.
