Accolade Wines Launches The Light Grape Collection

New low-calorie wines offer health conscious consumers fewest calories without compromising taste

NAPA, Calif.--()--Accolade Wines North America is introducing The Light Grape, a new collection of great-tasting, low-calorie wines targeted to health conscious consumers. Beginning in April, 2013 a selection of four, high-quality, California-appellated bottlings will be available in select U.S. markets: the 2012 Chardonnay, 2011 Rosé, 2012 White Blend and 2011 Red Blend.

At just 80 calories per five ounce glass, The Light Grape wines offer the fewest calories in their category and 30 to 40 percent less calories than most full calorie wines. Special winemaking methods allow The Light Grape winemaking team to lower the wine’s total alcohol by volume (ABV) to 8.5 percent without sacrificing any of the wine’s fresh flavor and fruity character.

The Light Grape name and eye catching packaging are designed for optimal consumer and shelf appeal. Initial launch activities will include an extensive summer advertising campaign with Weight Watchers Magazine, and a comprehensive print and online program targeting 15.6 million health-conscious consumers. The partnership will also include an email blast to 35,000 opt-in member-users, plus listings in the Weight Watchers Source Book and SHOP 2014 reference guides. Appealing in-store promotional materials will include roller racks, shelf talkers and case displays highlighting the brands “80 Calories, 100% Taste” messaging.

With a retail price of $12 each, The Light Grape wines exhibit vibrant flavors and refreshing taste. The 2012 Chardonnay is golden in color with crisp acidity pairing nicely with grilled chicken and summer salads. Perfect for sipping on warm days or enjoying with a fruit salad, the 2011 Rosé is dominated by floral aromas and the bright flavors of pomegranate and cherry. The 2012 White Blend is a dynamic blend of primarily Pinot Grigio and Viognier that pairs effortlessly with light Asian fare. The 2011 Red Blend, combining predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, possesses a medium weight and soft tannins, making it an ideal partner for grilled meats and other hearty flavors.
