Ustream Teams Up with the 2013 Bonnaroo and Outside Lands Music & Arts Festivals to Provide Exclusive Live Video Streaming Experiences for Fans

Live premium digital webcast and Mobile Mob to capture multiple stages and vantage points, creating an ultimate branding opportunity

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Ustream, the leader in live social video streaming, today announced it will provide exclusive live video streaming for the upcoming Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in partnership with Superfly Presents, Bulldog DM and Springboard Productions. The deal marks the first time viewers everywhere will have access to the lineup of performances for both festivals through Ustream’s interactive, socially integrated platform.

Unique Fan Experience

Music fans anywhere in the world will now have the ability to personalize their viewing experience by choosing from unique content across multiple stages, as well as candid fan views from Ustream’s Mobile Mob. Ustream’s Mobile Mob is a new grassroots approach that will empower selected festival attendees to share their unique experiences with other fans via their mobile devices.

“This year, fans will be granted never-seen-before, live access to two of the most important festivals in the U.S. -- even in the palms of their hands via mobile devices,” said Chris Blocker, senior vice president of sales and business development for Ustream. “The mix of premium and fly-on-the-wall content powerfully illustrates how bands can become fans and fans can join bands in a seamless social entertainment experience such as this.”

Grammy-winning producer, Hank Neuberger, will orchestrate a multi-camera shoot throughout the course of the two popular music festivals. Bonnaroo will take place in Manchester, Tenn. On June 13-16. Outside Lands takes place in San Francisco August 9-11.

Neuberger’s Springboard Productions has consistently delivered groundbreaking, innovative, and high-quality live productions, including live broadcasts for the Grammys, Coachella Festival, and Lollapalooza Festival. Recorded versions of the performances will be available for 60 days via Ustream.

“The world famous Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Outside Lands in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park are two of the premier destination music festivals in the U.S. and attract diverse and heavily engaged audiences each year,” said Alex Machurov, director of new business & partnerships at Superfly Presents. “We are excited to partner with Ustream and believe their technology will significantly enhance the user experience in Manchester and San Francisco. Now millions more music fans around the world can enjoy its interactive, personalized platform.”

Opportunities to Brand

Blocker said research shows that viewing length for live video is 18x longer than recorded video. “Ustream’s technology platform easily scales to reach millions of users concurrently, which provides a powerful opportunity for brands to market to a huge and engaged audience.”

John Petrocelli, co-Founder of Bulldog Digital Media and former VP of sales and business development of AEG Digital Media, said the Bulldog team has worked on nearly every major live event and music experience over the past several years. “The strategies and optimization tools we are applying to these two festival experiences will provide unparalleled reach, user engagement and innovation for sponsoring brands,” he said. “We are confident Ustream’s powerful technology will result in a groundbreaking viewing experience for music fans around the world.”

About Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee every June. Bonnaroo brings together some of the best performers in rock and roll, along with dozens of artists in complementary styles such as jazz, Americana, hip-hop, electronica, and just about any contemporary music you can think of. In addition to dozens of epic performances, the festival’s 100-acre entertainment village buzzes around the clock with attractions and activities including a classic arcade, on-site cinema, silent disco, comedy club, theater performers, a beer festival, and a music technology village. For its peaceful vibe, near-flawless logistics, and unrivaled entertainment options, Rolling Stone magazine named this revolutionary entertainment experience one of the 50 moments that changed the history of rock and roll.
