PowerAdvocate Honored with ‘Gold Star’ for Supplier Diversity Success

Award celebrates PowerAdvocate’s outstanding service to Texas’ largest electricity company

DALLAS--()--PowerAdvocate was recognized recently as a Gold Star supplier by Energy Future Holdings (EFH) at its 22nd annual Supplier Diversity Gold Star Recognition Reception.

PowerAdvocate was credited for the value it has created in its relationship with EFH, as well as its committed practice to hiring veterans in its workforce. PowerAdvocate has done business with Luminant, one of EFH’s holdings, since 2010. The two companies have worked together across a range of operational initiatives, and recently entered into a 3-year partnership that will use PowerAdvocate’s technology platform to help enable enterprise improvement and efficiency. Throughout their relationship, EFH has used PowerAdvocate’s solutions to better understand complex supply markets, manage down costs, and mitigate risks along the value chain.

PowerAdvocate received the Gold Star because of its strong performance, and its commitment to veterans, who comprise a large proportion of the company’s workforce, a third of the company’s executive leadership, and are actively recruited by the company. “We are thrilled to be recognized by EFH with the Gold Star for our support of veterans and for our ongoing commitment to delivering superior products and services to our customers,” said Mark McVay, Senior Vice President of Sales and a 1986 graduate of the Naval Academy.

The Gold Star Supplier Award recognizes minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses that utilize a diverse workforce, practice inclusion in their own supplier base, provide outstanding service to EFH, and contribute to their communities through volunteer and philanthropic commitments. A national leader in supplier diversity, EFH has spent $4.6 billion since 1990 on goods and services provided by minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses. In addition to the Gold Star Supplier Awards, recognition is also awarded to employees who have made significant contributions to progress in supplier diversity, and major suppliers to EFH who have practiced inclusion in their sub-contracting opportunities.

“Supplier diversity helps us win on two tracks: economic development of communities where we work and live, and enhancement of our competitive advantage,” said Cheryl Stevens, EFH Vice President of Supplier Diversity. “Our annual Gold Star event is a perfect occasion to toast our stars, celebrate our progress and renew our individual and collective commitment to supplier diversity.”

PowerAdvocate has a long-standing tradition of honoring veterans’ commitment to our country in its hiring practices, its community support initiatives, its corporate volunteerism, and its philanthropic activities. The firm actively supports a number of charities that provide support to veterans in need and actively recruits veterans as part of its hiring process.
