Staffing Up its Tampa Headquarters, Heat Pipe Technology Hires New Engineering Manager

In His New Role, Marcus D’Arcy Will Manage HPT’s Research and Development Efforts

TAMPA, Fla.--()--Heat Pipe Technology, Inc., a division of MiTek®, a Berkshire Hathaway company (NYSE: BRK-A, NYSE: BRK-B), today announced that it has hired a new Engineering Manager. This position will be filled by Marcus D’Arcy, and the hiring of Mr. D’Arcy is part of an effort by Heat Pipe Technology (HPT) to staff up its new, expanded Tampa headquarters. In his new role, Mr. D’Arcy will manage all of HPT’s research and development efforts, which will involve testing and improving HPT’s products.

Mr. D’Arcy will also manage the design team that provides the engineering data HPT needs to manufacture its wrap-around moisture-removal dehumidification and energy-recovery systems, which have been shown to increase an HVAC system’s capability by up to 50%.

Previous to HPT, Mr. D’Arcy was Chief Engineer for Tampa-based Thermotech Enterprises. Additionally, Mr. D’Arcy holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from Trinity College, Oxford University, UK.

The news of Mr. D’Arcy’s new position comes on the heels of HPT’s relocation to Tampa and the completion of the Company’s new 58,000 square foot manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters. The Tampa manufacturing facility is 45% larger than the previous Gainesville location, and the increased manufacturing capacity and larger staff will allow HPT to respond to rising demand for its new and retrofit HVAC solutions. The new facility also allows for HPT to demonstrate its dehumidification and energy recovery heat pipes and to properly showcase HPT’s Innovation Center.

“If you look at the high caliber of Mr. D’Arcy, his education, and his background, you will see the kind of talent that HPT is drawing to our Tampa headquarters,” said Gene Toombs IV, HPT’s President. “We are experiencing high demand for our HVAC solutions, and we need people like Mr. D’Arcy to help us satisfy a growing list of customers from around the globe.”
