Alcatel-Lucent Joins Forces with GigaSpaces Cloudify Technology to Accelerate the Delivery of Carrier-Cloud Platform as a Service

GigaSpaces Cloudify works with Alcatel-Lucent’s CloudBand™ solution to provide a new class of carrier cloud services that bring the benefits of the cloud to service provider networks and business operations, while also delivering cloud services with the security, reliability, and quality that enterprises and consumers expect.

In this project, Alcatel-Lucent is leveraging Cloudify as a major building block on its carrier-grade Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS). Moreover, it enables the on-boarding of mission critical applications on a massive scale, including both legacy and new carrier cloud services. “The joint integration between Alcatel-Lucent’s CloudBand solution and Cloudify for the first time makes it possible to meet customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by integrating carrier networks and the application,” says Zeev Bikowsky, CEO of GigaSpaces Technologies.

Unlike regular cloud environments, where an application needs to explicitly handle multi-zone deployments, CPaaS allows for the application workload and availability to be handled through a policy driven approach. The policy describes the desired application SLA, while the carrier CPaaS maps the deployment of the application resources to the cloud and reflects the best latency, load, or availability requirements.
