WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stephanie C. Hill, President of Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions-Civil product line, will deliver the keynote address when The National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) holds its 2013 Professional Development Institute, “Igniting Innovation: Access, Equity, and Diversity.”
To be held April 15-19 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC-Crystal City (300 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, VA), NAPE’s Professional Development Institute is the premier professional development event for educators and advocates who are dedicated to removing barriers to equal opportunity in education and the workforce.
“We are thrilled to have Stephanie Hill as our keynote speaker for this year’s Professional Development Institute,” says NAPE Chief Executive Officer Mimi Lufkin. “Her work as both a software engineer and a leader at Lockheed Martin and her passion for engaging youth in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) ties directly with NAPE’s own work in increasing the recruitment, academic performance, and program completion of women and under-represented students in STEM courses.”
At Lockheed Martin, Hill leads approximately 10,000 employees who are responsible for a wide array of information technology systems and services in areas such as information and cyber security, finance, transportation, citizen protection, energy, health care, and space exploration.
Hill joined Lockheed Martin in 1987 as a software engineer and assumed positions of increasing responsibility. She was recognized for career achievement in industry by the Women of Color STEM, and UMBC named her Outstanding Alumna of the Year in Engineering & Information Technology. Hill enjoys mentoring students and served on the Maryland Governor’s STEM Task Force in 2009.
In addition to the keynote address, NAPE’s Professional Development Institute will feature workshop sessions providing participants with research-based strategies and innovative tools to help in implementing practices aimed at igniting access, equity, and diversity.
The Institute also allows attendees to network with educators, advocates, and other equity professionals to discuss the impact of public policy on state and local education and workforce development programs.
