TOMCAT® Rodent Baits and Bait Stations Meet New EPA Standards

MADISON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TOMCAT, the No. 1 brand in rodent control products, announced today that all of its rodent baits and bait stations are compliant with the new safety standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“When faced with the new EPA requirements, we chose the responsible route,” said Steve Levy, president and CEO of Bell Laboratories, manufacturer of TOMCAT products. “We developed new products that met EPA guidelines and, since June 2011, have manufactured and sold rodent control products that incorporate these new safety standards.”

In a sweeping move to deal with manufacturers that failed to comply with the new standards, the EPA, on January 30, 2013, announced their intention to ban the sale of 12 d-CON mouse and rat poison products. From EPA’s release, ‘Reckitt Benckiser Inc, maker of d-CON brand products, is the only rodenticide producer that refused to adopt EPA’s safety standards for all of its consumer use products.’¹

The release, (www.epa.gov/pesticides), also noted Bell Laboratories’ TOMCAT products as examples of rodent control products that meet new safety standards.

“We recognized the importance of protecting children, pets and wildlife and took steps early on to adopt these new safety measures,” Levy added.

Since 2008, the EPA has been working with manufacturers of rat and mouse bait to develop and register safer rodent control products that are effective, affordable and widely available to meet the needs of consumers.
