KOHLER, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the 28th consecutive year, The American Club resort hotel in Kohler, Wisconsin, is a proud recipient of the AAA Five-Diamond award, the highest ranking bestowed by AAA, acknowledging ultimate luxury, sophistication and comfort with extraordinary physical attributes, meticulous personalized service, extensive amenities and impeccable standards of excellence. One of two resorts in the Kohler Co. Global Hospitality Group, The American Club is the Midwest’s only AAA Five-Diamond resort and offers world renowned Championship golf courses, spa and culinary experiences.
“We are incredibly proud and honored to achieve the AAA Five-Diamond Award yet again this year. It is a true testament to our dedicated staff for its consistent gracious hospitality and personalized service for every guest they encounter,” said Christine Loose, General Manger, The American Club. “Along with our sister resort, Old Course Hotel, Resort & Spa in St Andrews, Scotland, Kohler Co. continues its standard of offering incomparable experiences to guests and visitors around the globe.”
The American Club historic hotel originally served as a dormitory for European immigrant factory workers for the Kohler Co. in the early 1900s. Recently renovated guest rooms in the hotel’s main building are richly appointed with soothing water experiences by KOHLER plumbing products, fine Egyptian bedding, artistic tile from Ann Sacks and select furnishings from Baker and McGuire. Today, the building is recognized by the Historic Hotels of America and pays homage to its historic beginnings with photos and memorabilia throughout the resort. The American Club is also one of only 36 hotels in the world to boast both Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond designations.
The AAA Diamond ratings started in 1937, to provide improved travel information for members. AAA employed its first inspectors, called field reporters, to personally visit and report on hotels and restaurants. Today, AAA's professionally trained inspectors continue this practice as they inspect, approve and rate more than 59,000 hotels and restaurants to help travelers enjoy a positive experience.
In addition to The American Club Resort’s resumé of awards and honors, the Kohler Waters Spa is the first and only Forbes Five-Star Spa in Wisconsin and one of only 31 in the world. The resort is also known for award-winning Championship golf courses, Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run, which have hosted two PGA Championships, the U.S. Senior Open, two U.S. Women’s Open’s and is the future home to the 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup. The elegant accommodations, inspired dining, impeccable service, award-winning golf, unparalleled spa services and resort amenities make it a truly unique – if not outrageous – experience.
