Go Daddy Invests in Tech-Savvy College Students

Go Daddy .ME Scholarship Offers Opportunity for 10 Students to Receive $10K Each

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Go Daddy, the world’s leading Web hosting and domain name provider, is looking for the best and brightest students for the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship program. Beginning today, eligible U.S. students can submit applications at GoDaddyScholarship.me.

“Ten thousand dollars can have a significant impact on a student’s future, especially with rising tuition costs”

Thousands of students are expected to compete. Ten are awarded a $10,000 scholarship. Applicants submit a 500-word essay describing how the Internet or technology has helped them and how they envision benefiting from it in the future. Essays are judged on quality, creativity and originality.

As a one-stop shop for small business owners looking to leverage the power of the Internet, Go Daddy launched the scholarship program in 2010 as a way to support students who are aspiring entrepreneurs and technologists.

“Ten thousand dollars can have a significant impact on a student’s future, especially with rising tuition costs,” said Go Daddy Chief Human Resources Officer Lane Jarvis. “Investing in these students is not only good for them, it’s great for Go Daddy because we are advancing future technologists for our tech-driven workforce.”

Over recent years, 20 students have received the Go Daddy .ME Scholarships, including entrepreneur Maddie Maschger. “Go Daddy made a huge difference in my life by contributing to my education, which has allowed me to pursue my passion for art and technology,” said Maschger, a Go Daddy customer who founded MissfitsMag.com, an online magazine for young artists and writers. “I am grateful to Go Daddy – not only for the scholarship opportunity – but for helping me create a forum to connect other online entrepreneurs.”

To apply for the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship, applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in fall 2013, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have scored higher than 1,000 on the SAT or 21+ on the ACT.

The application deadline for the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship is March 31, 2013. Go Daddy’s scholarship recipients are scheduled to be announced at the end of April. For more information about the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship program, please visit GoDaddyScholarship.me.
