DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Organizing its first ever Holiday Food Drive, Irving-based Chuck E. Cheese’s 16 Dallas-Fort Worth stores cheerfully partnered with the North Texas and Tarrant Area Food Banks (NTFB and TAFB) this holiday season to serve as an entertainment outlet where families could have fun by donating canned goods and giving back together, bringing the NTFB and TAFB more than 1,600 pounds and $2,900 closer to their fundraising goal.
Both the NTFB and TAFB work towards a year-round mission of helping feed the 700,000 North Texans – one in six people in each local community – living in hunger. In November, TAFB estimated that it would need two million pounds of canned food while the NTFB needed $7 million to help put nutritious food on holiday tables this year and into the next.
“We couldn’t be happier with the results of our first Holiday Food Drive. We are especially pleased with the fact that all the effort children and parents put in to help others this holiday season will benefit our friends and neighbors in DFW throughout the New Year,” said Scott McDaniel, chief marketing officer at CEC Entertainment, Inc., Chuck E. Cheese’s parent company. “Chuck E. Cheese’s is proud to be a place where families can come together to celebrate the special holidays and create lasting memories. It’s these memories that are the most rewarding for those families who learned about charitable giving while having fun, playing games and winning prizes with us this year.”
During the Holiday Food Drive, guests had the opportunity to contribute directly to both NTFB and TAFB's mission of feeding families by making a cash donation and/or bringing canned goods and non-perishable food items to Chuck E. Cheese’s stores in Allen, Arlington, Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth/North Richland Hills, Garland, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Hulen, Irving, Lewisville, North Garland/Firewheel, Plano, Rockwall, Valley View and White Settlement. For each non-perishable food item or one-dollar donation, guests were rewarded with 10 free tickets, without limit.
The proceeds will be divided amongst the two food banks and distributed through their networks to the communities they serve. More information about Chuck E. Cheese’s fundraising efforts can be found at http://chuckecheese.com/plan/fundraising.
Throughout the year, Chuck E. Cheese’s asks moms and dads to share their memories, photos and stories of their families giving back in their own communities with email@example.com. Chuck E. Cheese’s will share them with friends and fans through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and foursquare to inspire and thank the DFW community.
