Just in time for back to school, and only five months after an EF-4 tornado severely damaged Henryville Junior-Senior High School in Indiana, school officials and the community celebrated the school’s reopening.
Service On Site, a provider of onsite contents loss inventorying, played an important role in the reconstruction project that enabled students to return on time to an almost entirely new, refurnished, resupplied and restocked school. Service On Site Methodology Helps Streamline Claims and Improve Accuracy
The Service On Site team was contracted by The Hanover to inventory every room and wing of the school during the first week in the aftermath of the tornado which had completely destroyed the school library and a two story section of the school. Damage to varying degrees occurred to other areas of the school’s facilities, including the bus depot. After completing the inventories, the team worked one on one with teachers to help them reconstruct their classrooms with replacement desks, chairs and school supplies.
Service On Site’s systematic process for handling contents claims from inventory to valuation through to replacement results in faster more accurate claims settlements, particularly for large losses like the Henryville school project. The school library sustained the most extensive damage. Nearly 20,000 items including computers, desks, chairs, furniture and the books themselves were inventoried, assessed for value and replaced in preparation for the return of the students. More than 10,000 additional items damaged or completely destroyed throughout other areas of the school accounted for the remainder of the contents claims that were processed.
