MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This season, consumers dishing out holiday desserts will also be able to feed the needs of many military families in the country – thanks to the makers of Mrs. Smith’s® desserts.
From now until Jan. 31, 2013, for every Mrs. Smith’s® pie purchased, the makers of Mrs. Smith’s® desserts will donate $1, up to $35,000, to Operation Homefront, the national non-profit dedicated to providing emergency financial and other assistance to military families. In addition, the makers of Mrs. Smith’s® desserts will provide 5,200 holiday pies to Operation Homefront as part of the nonprofit’s annual Holiday Meals for Military program, which will distribute 5,200 full holiday meal kits to 17 locations nationwide.
“Military families are not only dealing with the effects of war, but also the current economic difficulties,” said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of Operation Homefront. “So often these families are split up during the holiday season from deployments. This year, we are helping them bring the celebration home, and show that we are thankful for the sacrifices that they have made for our country.”
Among the pies available as part of the Operation Homefront promotion are the newly launched Mrs. Smith’s® Signature Deep Dish Pies. The new holiday pies come in four flavors: Dutch Apple with Caramel Sauce; Cherry with Butter Fudge Sauce; Pumpkin and Cream Cheese Icing; and Peach with Cream Cheese Flavored Icing.
The makers of Mrs. Smith’s® desserts are also giving consumers the opportunity to spread a little holiday cheer to their loved ones by sending an e-greeting card via their holiday microsite. Consumers can log onto www.holidaysmadememorable.com to choose from two e-card designs. With every e-card sent, both the sender and the recipient will receive up to two coupons for $1 off any Mrs. Smith’s® whole pie.
