NOTTINGHAM, United Kingdom--()--Chinook Sciences Limited (“Chinook”), a leading manufacturer and operator of advanced gasification technologies, has appointed Bill Prescott as Corporate Development Director. In this role, Mr. Prescott will work closely with the Chinook Board to develop and implement Chinook’s growth strategies with an emphasis on waste stream utilization and Energy from Waste (“EfW”) projects.

Mr. Prescott brings more than 35 years of waste management, EfW, and process and chemical industry experience to Chinook. Mr. Prescott’s career includes 18 years in the waste management industry working initially for Generale Des Eaux where he was UK Operations Director for EfW plants, including SELCHP in London, before becoming Group Technical Director with Onyx (now Veolia) where he established and was managing director of the Onyx Packaging Waste Compliance Scheme, one of the largest in the UK. Mr. Prescott also served as Commercial Director for a major European engineering contractor (Lurgi/Lentjes) working on EfW and environmental projects. His most recent post in the waste industry was with FCC (formerly Waste Recycling Group “WRG”), which is one of the largest waste management groups in the UK. He served as Project Development Director for FCC and was responsible for the expansion of the Nottingham EfW plant, and for the technical input into PFI bids for contracts in Lincolnshire and Buckinghamshire, which resulted in orders for two (2) new EfW plants.

Mr. Prescott has also served as the UK chief operating officer for the U.S.-based recycling group, Nexcycle, after which he moved to Macau, China and spent the next six years overseeing the development of a 600k tpa EfW plant. In this capacity, he worked closely with local government officials on recycling and hazardous waste treatment options. Mr. Prescott also worked on U.N. Clean Development Mechanism projects throughout Asia before founding a gasification based EfW company based in Hong Kong.

Mr. Prescott previously spent 18 years in the UK chemical industry covering a wide variety of chemical and biochemical technologies, employed by Rio Tinto Zinc and also served as Production Director and Works Manager with Metalgesellschaft.

He has also served on the board of directors of several energy, recycling, & environmental service companies including holding the non-executive chair of a local authority based district heating company. Additionally, he has served on the committees and boards of a number of waste, recycling and energy related government and professional organizations.

A Chartered Chemical Engineer with a BSc. degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Mr. Prescott also holds a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West of England. He has experience in Quality Management and has steered 4 organizations to achieving full Quality Management certification including the first fully integrated QMS in Macau, China. Apart from his native English, Mr. Prescott is fluent in French, German, and Italian. He is proficient in Mandarin and Cantonese.
