BEND, Ore.--()--Horse tack, sporting goods, construction materials, and anything else that can be stored in a trailer can be gone in the time it takes to cut a padlock or smash a lock. Knowing this, Milt Hultberg built the hidden INVIZI-LOCK to secure horse trailers while his wife and daughter were competing in rodeos.

“My wife and daughter traveled around the country with thousands of dollars of equipment in their trailer tack room,” he explained. “I didn’t want any of their saddles and other tack stolen, so I invented the INVIZI-LOCK system. Because of the way the INVIZI-LOCK works, they could put valuables in the tack room without worrying about things being stolen.”

Using a small keyless remote to operate a deadbolt, Hultberg built a lock that secured trailer doors from the inside where it could not be reached by thieves. All that is visible from the exterior are the smooth heads of four carriage bolts, which are virtually tamperproof. A back-up system is also provided should the remote be lost or broken.

After developing the lock, Hultberg, who owns a welding and metal-fabrication business in Powell Butte, Oregon, teamed up with long-time business associate Matt Dickerhoof. Since then the two have started selling the Oregon-made patent-pending INVIZI-LOCK system. One of their first customers was Brenda Mays, five-time National Finals Rodeo (NFR) Barrel Racing qualifier. “I feel comfortable leaving my trailer and all my tack without worrying about my things getting stolen,” said Mays. “I can use my remote to lock my tack room door and walk away with peace of mind.”

The INVIZI-LOCK system costs $US 595 (plus shipping) and can be fitted on horse, recreation, utility and construction trailers. For more information, visit www.invizilock.com or call 541-231-5977. INVIZI-LOCK will be launched nationally at the NFR Cowboy Christmas Show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from December 6-15. Visit booth 881.
