Noted Antitrust and Intellectual Property Economist Dr Lawrence Wu Named President of NERA Economic Consulting

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NERA Economic Consulting, a leading global provider of economic advice and analysis in business, legal, and regulatory matters, announced today the appointment of Dr. Lawrence Wu as the firm’s President, effective 1 January 2013.

Dr. Wu is one of NERA’s leading economic experts, specializing in antitrust and intellectual property issues. He has been at the forefront of applying rigorous economics on behalf of clients in numerous high-profile mergers and in litigation cases involving antitrust or intellectual property. Dr. Wu has also been actively involved in firm leadership, including as a Senior Vice President in the Global Antitrust and Competition Practice and member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Wu succeeds Dr. Andrew Carron as President. Dr. Carron, a leading authority on the economics of securities and finance, served as President for seven years. In recognition of his service to NERA, Andrew has been appointed honorary Chairman and will assist the new President as needed in such areas as business development and senior recruiting. He will also remain a full-time partner and continue to apply his exceptional knowledge and expertise on behalf of NERA’s clients.

Dr. Wu joined NERA in 1996, after serving as an economist in the Bureau of Economics at the US Federal Trade Commission. In addition to his position at NERA, he currently is a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. Dr. Wu holds a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a BA from Stanford University.
