ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--In the latest edition of The Wire...from AirPlus, 97 corporate travel managers from the United States and Europe share their opinions about the issues that will most impact the corporate travel industry in 2013.
Looking at large-scale national and global factors, the corporate travel managers expected the cost of fuel to have the most impact on their programs, followed by the U.S. "fiscal cliff", the ongoing European debt crisis, and a slowdown in developing markets.
Overall, the corporate travel managers surveyed thought trends directly related to travel would have a larger impact on their programs, led by airline issues, including ancillary fees and consolidation. Additionally, travel managers agreed that hotel ancillary fees, mobile technology, open booking, and big data, would have substantial impact on travel programs in 2013.
When asked in an open-ended question about what respondents are most concerned about, managing costs and traveler safety were by far the top answers, followed by monitoring and maintaining compliance.
