Cumberland Farms Encourages High School Class of 2013 to Apply for Believe and Achieve Scholarships

Convenience Store Retailer Will Help Young Adults Attend College; December 15^th Application Deadline Fast-Approaching

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cumberland Farms today reminded high school seniors across its service area that the December 15, 2012 application deadline for the company’s popular Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program is right around the corner. The convenience store retailer has been accepting applications since October 1^st from bright and ambitious young adults to help them achieve their dreams of attending college next year.

Since Cumberland Farms began the program six years ago, the company has awarded close to $800,000 in Believe and Achieve Scholarships to hundreds of college-bound high school students. As part of the company’s commitment to nurturing the future of young people, the program provides $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors across its service area. This year Cumberland Farms will award $130,000 in Believe and Achieve Scholarships to 130 students in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The program is open to students entering a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the fall of 2013 who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms location. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance, as well as financial need. Winners will be notified in the spring of 2013.

Since formalizing its Corporate Giving Program seven years ago, Cumberland Farms has donated millions of dollars in cash and products to causes that directly benefit thousands of young people through scholarships, direct-to-school programs, youth sports, local fundraising and more.
