ILS Technology Named Top M2M Application Enablement Platform Vendor, Just Ahead of Axeda, Says ABI Research

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ILS Technology has been ranked as the leading Application Enablement Platform (AEP) vendor in the latest Competitive Assessment developed by ABI Research. Axeda Corporation finished second by the slightest of margins demonstrating that the two companies are clear bellwethers in this rapidly emerging marketplace.

“The deviceWISE module can interface directly to a number of industry leading databases such as SAP, Salesforce, and Oracle. ERP/CRM integration is increasingly important as leveraging information from connected devices allows companies to optimize critical business processes and become much more efficient.”

Founded in the same year (2000), ILS Technology and Axeda both boast an impressively long list of customers located throughout the world. The latter, however, was adjudged to have the edge in terms of market share having generated revenues in excess of $20 million in 2011. Market share is a key component of the Competitive Assessment analysis, carrying a 25% weighting of the six criteria that make up the broader implementation category against which companies are scrutinized. This and the fact that Axeda has a re-seller agreement with AT&T were fundamental to the company’s near perfect implementation score of 90.

Despite this, ILS made significant ground in the innovation category of the assessment with an industry leading score of 81 that was just enough to secure it top spot overall. Report author, Craig Foster, cited the ability of its platform to integrate into existing ERP/CRM systems as crucial to its success. “The deviceWISE module can interface directly to a number of industry leading databases such as SAP, Salesforce, and Oracle. ERP/CRM integration is increasingly important as leveraging information from connected devices allows companies to optimize critical business processes and become much more efficient.”

Foster also pinpointed ThingWorx as being a company to watch in the future. ”As the AEP market grows, differentiation becomes imperative. ThingWorx has developed innovative tools such as the Mashup Builder and SQUEAL that could make it stand out to prospective customers.”

This Competitive Assessment provides a rating of the leading M2M AEP vendors. A total of 8 companies were scrutinized against several criteria under the categories of implementation and innovation in addition to a market share analysis for the same 8 companies. The product forms part of ABI Research’s M2M Service Delivery Platforms (http://www.abiresearch.com/research/service/m2m-service-delivery-platforms/) Research Service.
