Medical Residents Collaborate Nationwide on QuantiaMD

Next Generation of Physicians Learn and Connect Beyond the Walls of their Institutions

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--QuantiaMD, the largest online physician community and collaboration platform, has partnered with the National Chief Residents Consortium (CRC), an alliance of Internal Medicine (IM) chief residents, to launch The QuantiaMD Resident Exchange, a first-of-its kind national resident collaboration forum. The QuantiaMD Resident Exchange is a place where residents across multiple programs can instantly share knowledge, ask questions and discuss unique issues they face, on a scale never before achieved.

The group’s beginnings are in New York City, led by Niket Sonpal, MD, Chief Resident 2013-2014, Lenox Hill Hospital, and residents from all major New York City medical centers, including Lenox Hill Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and NYU Langone Medical Center. Officially recognized by the New York chapter of the American College of Physicians, the Exchange can be found at http://www.quantiamd.com/home/crc.

“I use QuantiaMD regularly to both learn and teach interns and residents on rounds,” said Dr. Sonpal. “The Resident Exchange on QuantiaMD enables a speed and scale of connecting and sharing among physicians that hasn’t been possible until now. The Exchange is less than a week old, and already I had a resident reach out to me about how the liver abscess case helped her in her work-up of a recent patient.”

Although technology has evolved rapidly, residents’ training hasn’t kept up with the needs of the new generation of physicians. While in-person conferences and scheduled lectures are important, today’s young physicians want convenient, on-demand access to information and learning. They also expect better peer support and connectivity to help cope with the long, grueling days of training that can be both mentally and emotionally challenging. The Resident Exchange was developed to meet these needs.

“The Resident Exchange is like a digital version of morning report, which is so essential to our training, especially for interns such as myself,” said Derek Worley, MD. “Making it to all of the teaching conferences is sometimes difficult due to patient needs and call schedules. This will enable me to never miss a great teaching case.”

The QuantiaMD Resident Exchange harnesses QuantiaMD’s leading collaboration platform and social media technologies to:

  • Give Chief Residents a national stage for teaching, presenting cases and building the largest, high-impact, interactive case library
  • Provide residents the ability to connect with other residents in their local area and across the nation to share best practices and discuss issues important to them
  • Enable residents to have exposure to cases they may not see too often in their local geographies (e.g. rural vs. urban, health issues endemic to certain geographies, etc)

QuantiaMD Resident Exchange launched in New York City and is quickly gaining momentum with residents joining from across the country (South Carolina, Texas, New Jersey, and more). The goal is to connect residents all across the US, and even beyond. By joining the Exchange, physicians will also have access to QuantiaMD’s fast-growing community of over 160,000 physicians already learning, sharing and connecting.
