Constellation Energy Nuclear Group Welcomes New Leaders to Nine Mile Point and Calvert Cliffs

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Constellation Energy Nuclear Group (CENG) announces the appointment of Christopher Costanzo to the position of Site Vice President at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station in Oswego, NY. Costanzo has been serving as Plant General Manager at CENG’s Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant (CCNPP) since August 2011 and will report to Maria Korsnick, Chief Nuclear Officer, effective November 26, 2012.

Prior to joining CENG, Costanzo worked at Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) in Iowa as the Site Vice President. He joined DAEC in 2009 from St. Lucie, where he was Plant General Manager for three years and operations manager for three years. Costanzo spent 14 years at Exelon where he held several leadership roles in Operations, Work Management, Training and FIN (Fix it Now). Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Navy for nine years. He received his Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license at Peach Bottom Power Station in the mid-1990s.

In a related move, Mark Flaherty, the acting Corporate Site Operations (CSO) Plant General Manager, a position located in Baltimore, MD, will join the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant team in Lusby, MD, as the new Plant General Manager, reporting to George Gellrich, Site Vice President. Prior to his current assignment, Flaherty was the CSO General Manager – Fleet Engineering. Flaherty, who has worked in the nuclear industry for more than 25 years, served as the acting Plant General Manager at Nine Mile Point for approximately three months in 2011 and was promoted to Manager - Fleet Engineering in 2009.

Flaherty began his career in the CENG fleet at the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in 1989 as a Licensing Engineer and held numerous positions with increased responsibility, including Director of Nuclear Safety and Licensing. In 2004, he became the Manager of Fleet Licensing and helped lead the Nine Mile Point License Renewal project. In 2006, he became the Manager - Engineering at CCNPP.
