Wells Fargo Named on “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” List by the Human Rights Campaign

Marks the tenth consecutive year the company receives perfect rating on Corporate Equality Index

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Marking its tenth consecutive year, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) was given the top rating of 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), earning the coveted distinction of being one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”

“Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.”

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality, released its CEI report this week. The CEI provides an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their workplace policies and practices pertinent to LGBT employees.

A total of 889 businesses were rated in the CEI this year. Wells Fargo was one of 252 considered best-in-class, an accolade it has earned every year since the company began participating in the CEI in 2003.

“For the past decade, Wells Fargo has been recognized with a perfect 100 score on the Corporate Equality Index, an achievement that has great meaning for our company,” said Jimmie Paschall, Wells Fargo Executive Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion. “We believe diversity is fundamental to our success – it is part of our Vision and Values – and it helps us develop an inclusive culture that is accepting of differences and open to new ideas, allowing us to create a competitive advantage in the marketplace. We are proud of our ongoing tradition and commitment to equality and inclusion for our LGBT team members - a trend we expect to continue in the years ahead.”

“We are extremely honored to be recognized as a best place to work for LGBT equality,” said Pat Callahan, Wells Fargo’s Chief Administrative Officer. “At Wells Fargo, we’ve made many strides over the years in developing an inclusive environment. This year, in particular, we are celebrating 25 years of support for our LGBT team members, customers, and communities. In 1987, Wells Fargo added sexual orientation to our nondiscrimination policy and since then, we’ve continued to foster a culture of equality for our LGBT team members.”
