JU MBA Program Makes Elite List of Top 100 Accredited Programs Nationally

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--()--Jacksonville University’s MBA program is now listed among the top 100 accredited programs in North America by the International Graduate Forum, capping a rigorous process that examines the top criteria driving business schools’ effectiveness and reputation.

The 2012 MBA Rankings, published this month in the IGF’s CEO Magazine, look at key performance indicators in faculty quality, number of faculty with Ph.D.s, student-to-faculty ratio, diversity, pricing, accreditation, class size and more.

The prestigious rankings examine only business schools accredited by the international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an esteemed group that JU’s Davis College of Business joined in 2010.

“Only about 5 percent of business schools worldwide maintain AACSB accreditation,” said Dr. Don Capener, dean of the Davis College of Business. “This 2012 study found JU to be toward the top of that elite group.”

JU made the list with its competitive tuition rate ($646 per credit hour), student diversity (63 percent white/37 percent non-white), gender breakdown (59 percent female/41 percent male), small average class size (17.5 students), number of faculty with terminal degrees (41) and more.

The IGF’s list is “an integral component in the decision-making process for high-potential and future managers, providing an important, independent benchmark of performance,” according to CEO Magazine. Schools making the list “have demonstrated a high level of innovation and thought leadership; typically, class sizes are moderate, highly qualified faculty are used, and the makeup of students is diverse.”

In its coverage of JU’s MBA program, CEO Magazine quotes several JU MBA graduates, including Bob Brigham, chief administrative officer of Mayo Clinic in Florida.

“The business tools I learned to use in the MBA program served me well,” he told the magazine. “The skills I received at JU were relevant to the operational challenges I face in healthcare. The leadership coaching and analytical skills I gained in the MBA program helped me to make better business decisions and improve my ability to lead by example.”
