Chase Eliminates Expiration on Cash Back Reward Points for Select Military Credit Cards

Servicemembers and Family Receive More Reward Redemption Options and Access to Newly Designed Rewards Website

Chase Partners with Shutterfly to Celebrate Veterans through New Thank the Troops Facebook App

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chase Card Services, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), today announced that cash back rewards earned by America’s servicemembers on select Chase military credit cards will no longer expire. Military cardmembers also now have more reward redemption options than ever before and two enhanced websites -- www.chase.com/militarystarrewards and www.chase.com/militaryfreecash -- to view all reward options available.

“Our cardmembers told us that removing the points’ expiration would provide greater peace of mind, and now they will get the most out of their purchases and reward redemption options.”

These new and improved benefits are automatically and immediately available to MILITARY STAR® Rewards MasterCard®, Marine Corps Community Service (MCCS) MasterCard®, Army Morale, Welfare, Recreation (MWR) MasterCard®, Air Force Club MasterCard®, and Navy MWR MasterCard® cardmembers.

“Our military is committed to the safety of our nation, and, in return, Chase is committed to making the financial lives of our valued military customers as easy as possible,” said Emelie Smith Calbick, general manager, Chase Card Services. “Our cardmembers told us that removing the points’ expiration would provide greater peace of mind, and now they will get the most out of their purchases and reward redemption options.”

Reward redemption options have been enhanced to include cash back as a statement credit, check, or deposit directly into a Chase banking account in any denomination starting as low as $20. The redesigned reward websites allow military cardmembers to redeem rewards anytime, view all redemption options, even plan a vacation with Travel Rewards.

Chase Military Cardmembers Continue to Receive Valuable Benefits

Last year, Chase announced that the same select military credit cards noted above would offer unlimited cash back for all purchases and would not charge foreign transaction fees. Cardmembers earn 2 percent cash back rewards at Army MWR, Air Force Services and MCCS Merchant locations, including Exchanges and Commissaries and 1 percent everywhere else. There is no cap on the amount of cash back rewards cardmembers can earn. In addition, with no foreign transaction fees, cardmembers can save 3 percent in fees with every international purchase.

Cardmembers also continue to receive the benefits of the Blue Star Deployment Program, which provides a full refund of any interest and fees incurred during deployment. Family members can still use their cards while a cardmember is deployed – a benefit that only Chase provides. Chase military cards have no annual fee and provide cardmembers access to a dedicated, expert Military Customer Service team, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Chase and Shutterfly Celebrate Veterans with “Thank the Troops” Facebook Application

Chase is partnering with online publishing service Shutterfly to honor military servicemembers and veterans to launch a Thank the Troops Facebook app. Through the app, Facebook users can create a free, customizable card to offer words of appreciation, hope and love to our American heroes. Each card sent will be distributed to troops and veterans with help from the non-profit organization A Million Thanks. To learn more and send a card, visit http://apps.facebook.com/thankthetroops/.

Chase’s Commitment to the Military

Chase has been offering servicemembers convenience, savings, service and security since 1989. In 2011, JPMorgan Chase established its Office of Military and Veterans Affairs charged with developing and executing a firm-wide, comprehensive strategy focused on supporting America’s military and veteran community. The firm primarily focuses on three issues facing transitioning servicemembers, veterans and their families: jobs, homeownership and education.

JPMorgan Chase launched the 100,000 Jobs Mission with ten other major employers with the goal of collectively hiring 100,000 transitioning servicemembers and military veterans by 2020. Since the mission’s launch in March 2011, the coalition has grown to 83 participating organizations and has hired 28,186 veterans as of September 30, 2012. JPMorgan Chase also has promised to award 1,000 Mortgage-Free Homes over five years to deserving veterans and their families through nonprofit partners. With support from JPMorgan Chase, Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies offers a tuition-free Veterans Technology Program, a non-credit certificate program for post 9/11 veterans aspiring to careers in information technology.
