NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--LP Building Products has received CE approval, the required mark for trading of construction materials throughout the European Union, for four grades of LP SolidStart LVL, allowing the company to introduce more alternatives for traditional softwood timber into the European Market.

The CE approved products include:

  • LP SolidStart LVL-Q Lite (1.3E), a cost-competitive alternative to LVL-Q products for rim board and wall plate applications;
  • LP SolidStart LVL-S Lite (1.9E), a cost-effective alternative to LVL-S for most header and beam applications;
  • LP SolidStart LVL-S (2.0E), a product that fits the industry standard for LVL across most of Europe;
  • LP SolidStart LVL-S Plus (2.1E), an ideal product for applications requiring higher performance for a stronger, stiffer beam.

Manufactured from ultrasonically graded veneers and bonded with exterior grade adhesive, LP SolidStart LVL delivers greater load-carrying capacity than traditional timber and provides consistent dimensions with less tendency to warp and twist. LP SolidStart LVL comes standard with SiteCote water-resistant coating on all six faces, providing additional weather protection and minimizing problems on site.

LP SolidStart LVL is available in standard thicknesses of 25mm, 29mm, 32mm, 35mm, 45mm, 63mm, 75mm and now a super thick 89mm end sections. It comes in depths up to 610mm in both standard LVL-S and cross ply LVL-Q Lite.

“By gaining CE approval for these products, we’ve increased our presence in the European Union and provided builders with stronger, more cost-effective alternatives to competitive products,” said Al Huber, International Sales Manager for LP Building Products. “We currently have six wholesale distributors stocking LP’s EWP products, with a strong presence in the United Kingdom and The Benelux as well as actively pursuing additional distributors in France and Germany."
