ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BAE Systems announced today that Frank Pope, president of the company’s Land & Armaments sector, will become president of a new Enterprise Shared Services organization effective October 1. Erwin Bieber, who currently serves as vice president and general manager of business operations for the company’s Intelligence & Security sector, will succeed Pope as Land & Armaments president.

Pope, who joined BAE Systems in 2007, led the Land & Armaments business through a period of unprecedented demand during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars and managed the business through the challenging fiscal environment that followed. In his new role, Pope will lead efforts to improve efficiency through sharing of services across the company — a transition that began in late 2011 with the consolidation of most human resources and many finance functions.
Bieber began his career as a systems engineer with Sperry Strategic Systems and as a civilian with the U.S. Navy. In 1985 he joined the Singer Company, which became part of BAE Systems though the GEC Marconi business, and progressed through a series of positions in engineering, business development, program management, and functional and line leadership. He recently served as leader of the Shared Services implementation and as acting president of the Intelligence & Security sector.
