William X. King Joins Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry Law Firm as Associate in Houston Office

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--William X. “Will” King recently joined Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry Law Firm (The Sloan Firm, www.SloanFirm.com) as an associate and relocated to Houston from Waco.

King is based in the firm’s Houston office located at 3000 Smith Street, Suite 4, Houston, Texas 77006 (Midtown). He also supports attorneys and clients of the firm’s Longview office on a regular basis.

King was admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas in 2011. Before joining the firm full-time, King supported The Sloan Firm on a part-time, contractual basis from April 2011 to June 2012. In addition to working for The Sloan Firm, King was also a staff member at his alma mater, Baylor Law School, where he served as the Practice Court Associate. In that role, he assisted Abner V. McCall Professor of Evidence Gerald Powell and professors Jim Wren and Jeremy Counseller to administer the nationally-ranked Practice Court program. He also provided briefing and consultative services for plaintiffs’ firms in California, Oklahoma and Texas in 2011.

King earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Texas State University in San Marcos in August 2007 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Baylor University School of Law in February 2011.

While attending law school, King won first place and became the champion of the Dawson & Sodd Moot Court Competition in 2008 and the Naman Howell Client Counseling Competition in 2010. He was a competitor and student coach for the American Bar Association Client Counseling Team, an executive board member of the Baylor Law School Student Bar Association, and a member of the Order of Barristers. In addition to his extracurricular activities, he served as a law clerk with the Law Office of Steve L. Moody and with the City of Austin Law Department.

King is committed to being actively involved in the communities in which he has strong ties, having been instrumental in starting a pro bono/public interest litigation group at Baylor Law School with Professor Wren. He continues to support this initiative as an alumnus. King recently volunteered his time and talent at a free back-to-school event sponsored by The Sloan Firm and hosted by El Centro de Corazón in Houston. El Centro de Corazón is a community-based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which provides adult and pediatric primary care, women’s health, dental and behavioral health services through five health centers. El Centro prepared and distributed a record-breaking (for El Centro) 1,000 free backpacks with school supplies for low income elementary school students in the month of August.

In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Texas, King is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

King resides near The Heights and River Oaks areas of Houston. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, family and friends. He enjoys reading and is a self-professed history and news buff.
