Rankings are based on clinical quality as measured by The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), a tool developed by NCQA to enable purchasers and consumers to make reliable comparisons of health care plan performance. Other measures used to score health plans for NCQA’s rankings include the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) and NCQA’s accreditation standards ratings.
“Harvard Pilgrim continues to top the nation’s best health plan rankings because of the quality of our clinical programs and our extraordinary customer service,” said Eric Schultz, president and chief executive officer of Harvard Pilgrim. ”We work closely with our health care providers to ensure excellence and to bring value for our members.”

“We are very proud of the broad network of Harvard Pilgrim doctors and hospitals across the three states we serve,” said Michael Sherman, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Harvard Pilgrim.
