BEVERLY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Betty Zakheim, a 30-year software industry veteran and former IBM/Rational innovator has joined software quality leader SmartBear Software as Vice President of Product Strategy.

Betty’s software career spans nearly 30 years in a wide range of roles and organizations. She spent the first 10 years of her career as an engineer and engineering manager at companies including General Electric, Raytheon, GenRad, Xerox and Interleaf. She then served in more commercial roles as a product manager and marketing executive at companies such as InConcert, Lightbridge, IONA, Progress Software, CopperEye and IBM/Rational.
Most recently, Betty ran her own consulting firm, Outside In Solutions, where she counseled software companies on go-to-market strategies. Betty holds bachelor’s degrees in computer engineering, advertising and psychology from Syracuse University. She also holds a master’s degree in computer science from Boston University. She is a member of the board of directors of The Boston Club, a group of executives for the advancement of women in leadership roles and serves as chair of its technology committee.
