Geostellar Appoints Executive Team to Lead U.S. Expansion

Company adds leaders from XM Radio, Los Angeles Times and Suntech America

Solar Power International 2012

ORLANDO, Fla.--()--Geostellar™, provider of Big-data Geomatic™ technology, today announced at Solar Power International three new additions to its executive team. The company has appointed Chief Marketing Officer Gary Hahn, Director of Community and Content Dean Kuipers and Vice President of Sales Leonard (Len) May to expand the capabilities of its senior team as the company continues its nationwide rollout.

“With the addition of Gary, Dean and Len to our exceptional leadership team, Geostellar is well positioned to reach every property owner in the major solar markets, introducing goods and services that will help them save money and protect the environment”

Through a combination of physical and financial geospatial algorithms, Geostellar’s online platform enables property owners to intelligently assess the economic and environmental value of a rooftop solar energy system at a given site. After receiving a calculation of their StellarScore™, which predicts the feasibility and performance of a PV system, interested parties can connect with solar professionals and financing options that best meet their needs through Geostellar.

Backed by a recent $14M investment from strategic sources, Geostellar launched its platform in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area last month. The company’s newly appointed senior executives will oversee various aspects of Geostellar’s expansion nationwide.

Gary Hahn, Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Gary Hahn will lead the development and execution of brand, creative and multi-channel marketing efforts for Geostellar. Hahn brings more than two decades of experience to the company, most recently serving as Executive Vice President of Marketing for SnagFilms, a leading distributor of independent films to digital platforms. Prior to this, Hahn held the title of Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand Management for XM Satellite Radio (now part of the merged SiriusXM Radio), where his efforts helped take the company from its launch to a platform with 10 million subscribers, earning a Gold Effie Award and a Promax/BDA Gold Award for XM’s multi-platform launch marketing campaign.

Dean Kuipers, Director of Community and Content

A longtime writer on environmentalism, alternative energies and pop culture, Director of Community and Content Dean Kuipers will now manage the local and social aspects of Geostellar’s platform. Kuipers comes to Geostellar from the Los Angeles Times, where he covered energy, environment, business and culture, directed the outlet’s Greenspace environmental blog and served as the editor of online community tool FindLocal. Before his work with the Times, Kuipers served as an editor at Los Angeles CityBeat, Raygun and Spin. Kuipers is the author of six books, and his work has appeared in many publications including Rolling Stone, LA Weekly and Travel & Leisure.

Len May, Vice President of Sales

In his role as Vice President of Sales, Len May is responsible for cultivating Geostellar’s partnerships with solar installers, financiers and equipment providers. A veteran of the solar industry, May previously spearheaded internal operations and external relationships for GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. (3800:HK) as the company’s Managing Director of Operations and Eastern Sales. He also served five years as Suntech America’s (NYSE:STP) Managing Director of Sales and Operations. Additionally, May held a variety of positions with Solarex/BP Solar, including a five-year term as Chief Operating Officer.

“With the addition of Gary, Dean and Len to our exceptional leadership team, Geostellar is well positioned to reach every property owner in the major solar markets, introducing goods and services that will help them save money and protect the environment,” said David Levine, CEO of Geostellar. “The successful delivery of our platform requires the sharpest skills from a variety of industries, and I am confident we’ve recruited a senior team capable of taking Geostellar to its next phase of service and beyond.”

Geostellar will display its online solar analytics platform at booth #1469 during Solar Power International, September 10-13 in Orlando, Florida.
