Abrazo Health Care and Aegis Health Group Present “Energizing Your Physician Relationship Management Program” at 2012 SHSMD Conference

PHILADELPHIA--()--Abrazo Health Care, one of the largest healthcare organizations in Arizona, successfully tackled one of hospital CEOs’ top leadership challenges: stronger relationships between physicians and the health system. Jim Banahan, senior vice president of strategy and business development for Abrazo Health Care, will join Rochell Pierce, vice president of physician relationship management for Aegis Health Group, to present “Energizing Your Physician Relationship Management Program” at the annual conference of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD). The Connections 2012 conference takes place Sept. 19-22 in Philadelphia.

Recognizing a need to build loyalty with physicians, Abrazo engaged Aegis Health Group in early 2011 to help develop a strategy for improving relationships with the medical staff and driving market share to Abrazo’s six hospitals. During their presentation on Friday, Sept. 21, Banahan and Pierce will explain how Abrazo overhauled their existing physician relationship management program to eliminate silos, engage the CEOs from each of its hospitals into a cohesive team, and implement tracking and accountability measures.

Attendees will discover best practices for improving communications with physicians, monitoring and resolving issues, growing targeted service lines, capturing market intelligence, and evaluating bottom-line results. “By taking a sales-focused approach to physician relationship management, Abrazo has measurably improved physician relations, driven volume to specific service lines, and increased overall market share,” noted Banahan. “We have been able to better engage our physicians, resolve their concerns in a timely manner, and ensure that everyone shares a unified vision.”

Augmenting this presentation are Aegis’ thought papers, “Physician Relationship Management: Ensuring the Stability and Vitality of Today’s Hospitals” and “The Four Keys to a Successful Physician Relationship Management Program,” which explore how building bridges with physician alignment initiatives help boost hospital volumes. Both papers are available at no charge and can be downloaded by requesting a free Aegis Passport.

“Physician relationships continue to top the list of hospital CEOs’ concerns,” said Pierce. “Those healthcare leaders who adopt programs that are focused, manageable and measurable will gain a stronger foothold in the market as they gain medical staff loyalty and higher referrals.”
