4G LTE Technology Continues to Expand in Florida

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More wireless customers across Florida soon will have access to the nation’s fastest 4G wireless network, when Verizon Wireless expands its most advanced 4G LTE (Fourth Generation/Long-Term Evolution) technology in Tampa Bay, Fort Myers and Tallahassee later this month.

Verizon is adding 4G LTE capabilities to dozens of new cell sites throughout these regions to bring and/or boost 4G LTE capacity in neighborhoods throughout Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Lee and Leon counties.

Verizon Wireless launched 4G LTE in the core areas of these three regions, as well as all of Florida’s main markets, throughout 2010 and 2011, and already covers more than 90 percent of the state’s population with the advanced technology.

Verizon Wireless is the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, available to more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and more than 370 markets across the country. The rollout of 4G LTE across Verizon’s entire network footprint is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2013.

Customers also can take advantage of 4G LTE-optimized applications like Color to share live video broadcasts of life’s special moments with their Facebook^® friends. Sharing live video with audio is an exclusive feature of the Color app on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network.

HomeFusion Broadband is another solution made possible by the power and speed of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. HomeFusion Broadband delivers high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.
