- Supports the fashion industry’s next generation with programs for emerging designers who dream of going global
- Returns to Big Apple as Official Logistics Partner for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, September 6-13
DHL, the world’s leading international logistics company, is bringing its international logistics expertise to designers showcasing their creative interpretations of men’s and women’s wear at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York during the week of September 6-13, 2012.
“In our fifth year as the official logistics partner for fashion weeks around the globe, not only does DHL ensure these premier events go off without a hitch, but we also want to nurture growth in the fashion industry,” said Karsten Aufgebauer, Senior Vice President of DHL, Northeast U.S. “That’s why we’ve developed a series of programs, awards and partnerships with designers, fashion colleges and trade organizations to benefit the industry. Our international expertise coupled with first-hand knowledge of the fashion and apparel industry has helped legions of designers, and we plan on continuing to encourage even more up-and-coming fashion talent.”
DHL has made a commitment to the next generation of fashion industry designers through the creation of various programs to support talent in different countries, including the DHL Designer Award, the DHL Fashion Export Scholarship and Global Design Partnerships.
- In its second year, the DHL Designer Award recognizes new fashion designers who demonstrate outstanding creativity, skills and potential to achieve international success. DHL announced the winner of this year’s award during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, March 18-24. Japanese designer Yu Amatsu of the brand “A DEGREE FAHRENHEIT” earned the award and a $6,300 international shipping credit from DHL.
- The DHL Fashion Export Scholarship identifies Australia’s emerging fashion talent and assists them in achieving global business growth. The Scholarship is open to all Australian fashion designers and labels who have been exporting for less than four years. We Are Handsome was named Australia’s top emerging fashion exporter in 2011 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
- Global Design Partnerships have allowed DHL teams to work closely with emerging fashion talent around the world. With the help of DHL, Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen made her debut at London Fashion Week earlier this year. DHL also teamed up with one of fashion’s brightest design duos and winners of the Fashion Fringe mentoring program, Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman, creators of FYODOR GOLAN, to support them in their first appearance at London Fashion Week.
- DHL has long partnered with Fashion Fringe, which recognizes Britain’s promising young designers, contributing its expertise in transportation and supply chain management to help shape great designs into commercially viable businesses.
