MORRISTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As global service providers come face-to-face with the reality of the new digital economy, intense competition and the absolute need for operational efficiency, TM Forum reports that top suppliers are seeing unprecedented demand for its Frameworx suite of standards and Frameworx Conformance Certification, an independent assessment of a product’s conformance to Frameworx. As a result, 20 companies have undergone Frameworx Conformance Certification for their products/solutions, including Hewlett-Packard, Huawei, IBM, Microsoft, Nokia Siemens Networks, Oracle and Tribold, with almost 50 products/solutions earning certification since the program launched two years ago. This represents a critical mass of products/solutions that service providers can select which are demonstrably conformant to Frameworx.
Because over four out of five leading global service providers already use TM Forum’s Frameworx, suppliers are facing unprecedented demand for products and solutions that are Frameworx Conformant in order to reduce the costs and risks associated with integration and the time and effort spent on procurement.
“TM Forum’s Frameworx Conformance Certification is critical in at least 50% of the purchasing decisions we see today,” said Philippe Lalande, director, Industry Collaborations, Oracle Communications. “This increase is indicative of a sea change amongst service providers. Conformance to Frameworx standards and best practices is now seen as a competitive advantage for suppliers and a top requirement from our service provider customers as part of their procurement processes.”
TM Forum’s Frameworx is a comprehensive suite of standards that enables a service provider’s business to run with maximum agility, simplicity and efficiency. Frameworx Product, Solution and Implementation Conformance Assessments enable suppliers and service providers to verify their conformance to the Frameworx Business Process (eTOM) and Information (SID) Frameworks.
To reduce cost and risk during procurement, TM Forum’s Frameworx RFx Templates allow service providers to articulate their specifications for Frameworx-based products and solutions. In addition, the templates let service providers quickly assess whether or not a product or solution meets their requirements, and where additional investment could be needed for custom development and integration. As a result, demand for Frameworx RFx Templates has dramatically increased by 87% over the last 12 months, bringing the number of downloads to over 2,000.
“By requiring Frameworx-based solutions from our suppliers we ensure they can support our internal business processes and information models,” said Juergen F. Hardt, senior vice president, Group OSS Management, Deutsche Telekom. “By demanding that our suppliers demonstrate Frameworx Conformance, we not only reduce our procurement and integration costs, we also make sure that gains we’ve made in operational efficiency and effectiveness are preserved.”
“The unprecedented demand from service providers for Frameworx Conformance Certified products and solutions illustrates the pressure on both sides of the industry to thrive and survive—especially as many service providers face off against the nimble players of the new digital economy,” said George Greenlee, senior vice president of service provider engagement, TM Forum. “By requiring Frameworx Conformance right from the start, service providers are able to speed service deployment and compete on a level playing field in the digital services arena.”
TM Forum grants a TM Forum Conformance Mark to all products and solutions that successfully go through the Frameworx Conformance Certification assessment process and publish their results. TM Forum also announces the completed certification to its membership base of over 65,000 individuals from 900-plus companies around the world. Suppliers are then free to use the Conformance Mark in their own marketing efforts.
