“When kids share sexually explicit images with their friends through Facebook or mobile text messages, many don’t realize that once it’s shared, you can’t take it back,” said Steven W. White, president and CEO, ImageVision. “Our technology will give kids the opportunity to re-think their actions before hitting send on an inappropriate text or Facebook message. We feel that we are the safety belt for mobile phones, helping kids make better decisions that could impact their education, jobs and reputation down the line.”
As co-founder and CEO, White spearheads ImageVision’s online safety efforts through recognizing and blocking illicit content on the Web and mobile devices. With ImageVision’s unique visual-recognition software that recognizes and filters harmful visual content in millions of user-generated images per day, parents have the tools they need to keep their kids safe from the dangers of behaviors like sexting and cyberbullying. The software not only recognizes visual elements like sexually graphic pictures, it can recognize key words or phrases classified as sexually explicit content.
“Tech Titans is the premier recognition of innovative technology companies and individuals who contribute to the vibrancy and success of the North Texas region,” said Charlie Vogt, president and chief executive officer of GENBAND and chair of the MTBC’s Tech Titans steering committee. “These pioneers are impacting tomorrow's technology today with their innovation, leadership and advocacy. Their groundbreaking advancements make a difference here and around the globe.”
White continues to make progressive strides to accomplish his company’s mission of clean mobile communication by eliminating sexting and cyberbullying. After recently securing Series B funding, ImageVision plans to continue taking the appropriate measures to ensure the moderation of explicit content and hopes to complete the company’s next big project of providing a product for mobile carriers to provide true “kid-safe” devices. The project is expected to launch in 2013.
The Tech Titans Award winners were revealed at the Tech Titans Award Gala at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, August 24. More information about the event is available at www.techtitans.org.
